i grew up as the middle of three kids in burnaby pushing toy cars through the dirt and playing hockey in the lane or drawing pictures in all the wrong colours until mum or dad put dinner in front of me and i was never good at sitting still and couldn’t figure out how to figure out what to do with my life so i spent my twenties travelling the world with no money and no plan working shitty jobs just so i could do it all over again until i stumbled into filmmaking and discovered an industry of beautiful lunatics and lost souls and immediately felt at home and since i was spectacularly unqualified for almost anything else and because of the whole “can’t sit still” thing i became a 1st assistant director and have spent the decades since working with extraordinarily talented people and learning that the best days aren't always the ones that go to plan but the ones where everyone looks after each other when they don't and it's the raddest thing in the world and now i live in east van with my incredible partner christie and our feral son bowie and our unhinged dog betty and believe you can tell almost everything about someone by what they put on a hot dog and that a midlife crisis is a perfectly reasonable excuse for more tattoos
